platform network

Platform is an association created in 2005 by the Frac to pool their resources and their collections, and to work together on collaborative projects both in France and abroad, thus bolstering their impact and effects.

At present 21 Frac are members of Platform. Since the beginning, the Frac have been working in partnership around a triple common objective of development and cooperation to:
- defend their interests on the national level,
- spread the circulation of their collections by interregional and international projects so as to rise up new cultural and artistic collaborations,
- create a centre of resources and information for the members and the partners of the association.

The aim of Platform is to create joint projects, to develop new networks, so as to make Frac collections more accessible to new forms of public, in France and abroad.

History of Platform
Before the constitution of Platform in December 2005, some Frac directors had already got closer, creating a common group of discussion and collaboration. So, from 2003, the Frac of the regions Alsace, Bourgogne, Champagne-Ardenne, Franche-Comté and Lorraine join forces under "Frac du Grand Est" name, to diffuse their collections abroad and to organize an interregional program of residences. From 2005 till 2009, Platform is thus constituted by two entities: "Frac du Grand Est" and "Frac national".

In March 2009, the association decided, to develop new synergies among its members and to gain in visibility, to simplify its structure by giving up the partition between "Grand Est" et "National", each of the 21 Frac members of the association standing now on an equal footing.Based in Paris from that time, Platform experiences a new phase of its development thanks to a national campaign of promotion of Frac collections entitled "Autumn collections", the organization of the first project of diffusion of Frac collections in the United States as well as the web site upgrade, intended to become a reference tool for the promotion of the Frac network.
