Discussion with Amelie McCandless
As part of this year’s WEFRAC, FRAC invites you to a meeting with musician Amélie McCandless.
During this exchange, the artist will discuss her relationship with art and her vision of the role of culture in society. She will also talk about her second album “Incandescente “, dedicated to the story of the notorious criminal Chicago May.
The discussion will be followed by a signing session.
Throughout the afternoon, discover a special selection of CDs and vinyls by local record shop My Little Sound Shop.
Amelie McCandless is a free and authentic artist whose folk music is an invitation to travel to faraway lands. Accompanied by her guitar or banjo, she gives voice to life stories like that of Chicago May, the heroine of her second album, Incandescente. Her uniquely pure voice is mature and haunting, reminiscent of Alela Diane.
**Incandescent
In 1890, a 19-year-old Irish girl from a modest family fled her country for the United States. She would go on to become a legend… sometimes darkened, sometimes embellished… Chicago May! She became a swindler, a thief, a prostitute and a showgirl. The story of Chicago May is a constant turmoil, a hymn to freedom and a defiant rebuke to conformity.
