Kevin Hunt, BEWEME
BEWEME (ÊTRE NOUS MOI in French) is a printed poster by British artist Kevin Hunt, designed to function as ‘wallpaper’ within institutional spaces – places where people gather, work and interact. A simple curved shape suggests the letters ‘B,’ ‘E,’ ‘W,’ or ‘M,’ combining to loosely spell the words ‘BE,’ ‘WE,’ and ‘ME’ whenever the posters are tessellated together. These evocative shapes and words call for self-care, mutual support, and collective solidarity, subtly urging us to look after ourselves and others within the environments where the work is displayed.
Originally conceived by the artist during a residency at Hotel Maria Kapel in Hoorn (NL) in 2019, an earlier version of BEWEME is permanently installed within the organisation’s reception areas, bar, bookshop, and offices. The work now functions as a reproducible design, in an open edition, to be pasted up anywhere where extra care may be needed.
Forming a provocative backdrop to the daily activities of those working for, participating in, and attending FARaway, BEWEME is visible in several locations in Reims (FR) throughout the 2025 festival, and is also available as a poster at FRAC Champagne-Ardenne, free for visitors to take away.
